Kingston kingJuly 1 is the opener for Coho Salmon in Marine area 10.  The catch and release fishing for these critters has been very good over the past week.  We have been catching the Coho on Dodgers and white or green hootchies, fished between 60 and 30′ .  The Coho we are targeting this time of year are not the big ocean fish, usually around 2-5lbs and some of the best eating Salmon in the Sound.  Jeff Head has been the hot spot recently, these fish will spread out as the summer moves on.  The King Salmon fishing has been fair.  We have had our best luck around Kingston and Jeff Head, catching mostly wild fish on Tomic plugs.  Most of my action has been deep 130′ or more of cable, so make sure you have plenty of fresh cable on the riggers.   Marine area 11 is open for Salmon, we have had mixed success down at Dolphin and Beales points.   The action in that area has been mostly on Flashers and Coho Killers.  I would expect this fishery to get much better as we move into July.
