A little catching up to do on posts!  It’s been a great season with Lings, Kings, Silvers and lots of wildlife.  Were still catching Kings, and silvers are just making a showing.  It’s been a lot of deep fishing with warmer waters in the Sound.

Another BC adventure has passed, and we move on to Steelhead and Salmon fishing on the Olympic Peninsula.  Fishing has been very good over the past few weeks in the Forks area.  We have been catching Coho and Chinook salmon, mostly on Spinners and Jigs.  Steelhead are starting to move into the Quileute system and the run will build in the next few weeks.

Fishing on the OP has been great the last few days.  With the water receding, Steelhead have been working their way up the rivers.  The Sol Duc river was the place to be over the past 4 days.  Snider crk hatchery fish and many wild fish have been in the mix.  Side drifting bait has been producing best for me.

neah5  Pink Salmon and Coho fishing in the Sound continues to be great.  We have had some good action on Coho and Pinks in the central part of Puget Sound.  Ace High flys and Coho Killers fished 40-60′ deep have been producing well.  I fished for a few days with some friends out at Neah Bay.  The fishing was great.  We had a good swarm of Humboldt Squid around, so we decided to keep one and see how they ate.

July king  Fishing today was fair for Kings and Coho.  The best king action today was on Cut Plug Herring fished at 40-60′.  The northern part of Marine area 10 was best for us.  The Coho action has been good at Jeff Head.  Coho have been hitting hootchies fished at 50-60′.  A few Pinks are starting to show, this could be a good sign for action to come.

A good day on Puget Sound

A good day on Puget Sound

The wind has been calm the last few days, allowing us to fish most of the good areas.  Blackmouth have been biting well, deep though.  We have the local Turkey Bowl fishing derby coming up on the 20th.  This is a charitable derby, usually with around 30 participants.  I think we will have some big fish weighed in this year.  My best lures have been Tomic Plugs and Hootchie/Flashers.  Fish the 120′-150′ depths, running your gear 90′-120′ down.  The small shakers have not been much of a problem lately.

Fishing for Blackmouth in Puget Sound has been quite good lately. Fish the 120-200′ depths and put your gear down about 120′. Best lures have been Plugs and Hootchies.
